When God Says Step Aside, Surrender and Trust Him for All the Moves

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

My Beautiful Souls 💛

This week has been one of those sacred pauses. The kind that doesn’t always make sense at first but somehow fills every space with peace once you surrender. As you know, every blog I share flows directly from what I’ve lived during the week, and this one is no exception. When it comes to the kids, this week felt even busier than the last one, an avalanche of homework! But we got through it. I thank God for health, as no one was sick in bed. All three kids were out the door every morning, attending school or daycare. A real blessing!

When God Calls You to the Sideline

There are moments in our journey, especially as mothers and entrepreneurs, when God whispers: “Step aside.” Not because we’re failing, but because He needs our full attention.

This week, I felt that nudge deeply. Even while managing my responsibilities, tending to my children’s needs, keeping up with my health and honoring commitments, I knew my priority was to draw closer to God. I made time for Him, intentionally. I slowed my pace. I allowed myself to be still, and in that stillness, I realized that sometimes, stepping aside isn’t about losing momentum; it’s about making room for divine direction.

We all have that inner rush, that fear of missing out on opportunities if we’re not “in the front line.” Especially as entrepreneurs, we often believe that success demands constant motion, endless effort, and visibility. But God works differently. Sometimes, He calls us to the sideline not to slow us down, but to strengthen us. While the world tells us that pausing equals losing ground, God is saying, “Let Me handle this. Your rest is not waste, it’s renewal.” Choosing to obey it’s to let God align everything we’ve been trying to balance on our own.

When God Takes Over

When we obey and take that step aside, something powerful happens: God takes over. He moves in ways we couldn’t have imagined. He sustains our families, opens doors in our businesses, and protects opportunities that are truly meant for us.

Even when something “big” happens during our pause, a deal we didn’t close, a door that seemed to shut, a plan that didn’t unfold. We must remember that what’s meant for us will never pass us by. What’s not ours was never part of the divine design.

To retreat in God’s presence is always a win, every single time. This doesn’t mean constantly being on our knees praying. It can be time in the Scriptures, listening to a Christian podcast or sermon, or simply playing gospel music. As mothers, we can stay connected to God even while cooking, cleaning, or managing daily tasks. However, it’s also essential to intentionally separate ourselves, to find a quiet space without distractions, to subtract the noise, talk to God, and listen carefully to hear His voice.

Something we also need to understand is that our time on the sideline, doing exactly what God asks of us, might be the boost that propels us to the next level He’s preparing for us. It could also be the realignment our business needs to reach its full potential.

Sometimes, we’ll be blessed to see the benefits of that pause right away. Other times, through our human eyes, it might look like “missed opportunities.” But no! We must remember that God’s will is always for our good, and with Him, we never lose. Even when the results are revealed later, the outcome is still victory.

It’s definitely easier said than done, especially when you’re the head of a full-time business, carrying responsibilities and expectations. But the God who calls you to pause already knows your position. He knows your heart, your commitments, and your desire to obey. When you surrender to His will, you can trust that He will take care of everything that concerns you.

Stillness Isn’t Stagnation

To the world, stillness may look like stagnation. But to a woman of faith, it’s a spiritual strategy. It’s in the silence that we receive revelation. It’s in the surrender that we find strength.

Sometimes God needs us to step away from the noise, not because we’re off track, but because He’s about to reveal a new direction. That “pause” might be His way of setting the stage for something greater. And when we come back, we don’t come back the same. We return with new wisdom, deeper clarity, and a heart that’s aligned with His will.

Obedience Over Hustle

As women of God, we are often juggling so much: motherhood, business, family, faith, and everything in between. It’s easy to get caught in the hustle, believing that constant effort equals success.

But the truth is, obedience will take us further than hustle ever will. God’s favor can accomplish in a moment what our effort could never achieve in years.

When He asks you to pause, it’s not punishment, it’s preparation. The world may keep spinning, but when you are aligned with God’s rhythm, you’ll always find yourself exactly where you’re meant to be, right on time.

Trust Him for Every Move

When God says, “Step aside,” it’s not because He’s leaving you behind. It’s because He’s preparing the path ahead, removing obstacles you can’t see, and orchestrating connections you couldn’t plan.

So, surrender, my Beautiful Soul. Trust Him for every move, even the ones that don’t make sense yet. Because when you trust the One who sees the whole picture, you’ll realize that the sideline isn’t the end of the game. It’s simply where God positions you before your next breakthrough.

When God says, “Step aside,” it’s a call to rest in His wisdom. It’s not a detour, it’s divine redirection. And in that stillness, if you listen closely, you’ll realize that while you were stepping aside, God was stepping forward on your behalf.

If this message finds you in that quiet space between doing and waiting, take heart. God sees you. He knows what you’re managing, who you’re caring for, and what you’re building. Trust that while you rest in obedience, He is orchestrating the moves you can’t yet see.

When God says, “Step aside,” don’t resist it; embrace it. Because when you surrender, God moves, and He never misses a step. Blessings, Laurie B.

I believe trusting in the Lord is very important. Heart aches and trials and tribulations can often seem like a step back or time wasted or even failure. To be honest, lately I've been feeling like I've been feeling like all of this actually. Overwhelmed, exhausted tired of the same routine back and forth to work. The Long commute is too much for me. I took a step back. This message spoke to me! I need some time to rest. Grace time, pause time. Leave it in the hands of the Lord our Savior. I am taking a step back. I need to rest. Creat a routine designed to help myself. Self care, sleep and light exercises. Get closer to…
